Disc Golf is not my fortè. At least there was a view of the Canadian Rockies to ease the pain of going 12 over par in 12 holes.
This past week, me and my dad took our nearly yearly trip to see Grandparents and enjoy the city of Calgary. While we were there we of course had to head towards the distant mountains to explore, but quickly found ourselves at a small town sports store looking to buy our first disc golf discs. In the mountain city of Canmore, residents embrace their beautiful setting with a community appreciation for outdoor activity and me, my dad, and grandpa were pointed to the Canmore Rec Center to begin our disc golf journey. Walking through crowds of paddle boarders, mountain bikers, and hikers, we worked our way on to the former Olympic Nordic trails now canvased in disc golf holes to begin. We quickly found disc golf is not so easily picked up but had a great time while doing so at the foot of towering mountains.
While I usually opt for more contact sports (and of course our trip to Calgary was not complete without a healthy dose of hockey), a week later, my dad and I have now disc golfed three times.
